Yesterday was a big day for selecting subcontractors. We selected our electrician, HVAC, and roofing subs. We went with Brighton Electric for our Electrician, Bill’s Comfort Systems for HVAC and potentially fireplaces, and Weather Tight Roofing for the roofing. We should have them all in for roughing along with the plumber early next week.
We also got news today that our framing should be done on Friday. Which will land us right on schedule for everything else. We are going out to the lot tonight, so new pictures will be posted this evening.

The framing has started and they have the floors in. We ventured down into the basement to get the down under view. I think that this is the most excited that we have been to this point. We are almost to the point of being giddy. Here are some pics of what has been done so far. We should have more pictures on Saturday or Sunday.

So today we were very busy. We went to a marble and granite place during lunch. It was called The Marble Company. I was not that impressed. Then we went and checked out all of Burton Lumber’s products. We officially ordered our exterior doors with them. We got a really nice alder door. A french door for the back and some other nice doors. We also looked at their fireplaces, railings, interior doors and more. We also decided that we are using WeatherShield for our windows.
We also had all the lumber delivered to the lot today. We officially start our framing tomorrow. Yeah!!! Our project will actually looking like a house. Here are some pics of the lumber on the lot.

So today and yesterday we had our concrete flatwork done by Kenny Western.
Here are some pictures of them. He has some final touches to make tomorrow but then he should be done.
We start framing on Tuesday. That should be really exciting because it will start looking like a really house, not just a cement hole.

So this is an eventful week so far.
On Monday we had our window wells delivered. Funny thing about that was that we ordered the wrong ones for 2 of them. We thought this was going to cause all kinds of problems. But we were able to recover quickly. We had the replacements delivered early this morning and we they got them installed today. So all 3 window wells are now in. We went to Jones Paint & Glass as well. We chose out the windows and doors that we wanted bid out. They had some really nice windows and doors and they even sell skylights (which we will need in our master bathroom). We also had the foundation damp proofed as well.
Today they did some backfilling on the foundation and in the garages and basement. We did not have a chance to go down and look at it today but I will check it out in the morning. Today was also good because we were about to contact about 15 new subcontractors. Everything this week has kinda fallen into place and we have been able to pick up the days we were behind and now are back on schedule.
We have also decided on who we are going with for concrete flatwork. His name is Kenny Western. He is working with on getting some highly discounted countertops and cabinets.
The week still has much left to get done. We still the sewer, water and electrical laterals, underground plumbing, an underground plumbing inspection, and temp power inspection and if all falls into place we might even have the concrete flatwork come in on Friday.

The forms have been removed and now we have to wait for about 5-7 days for the concrete to cure. So the next few days there won’t be a whole lot going. But once that is done, we have a flurry of things happening.
Here is what our next week and half will be like.
6/5 - Meeting with the framer and the truss engineer at the lot to make sure everything is looking right and get the right measurements.
6/9 - Delivery and Installation of Windows, Damp Proofing
6/10 - Potentially Backfill on the foundation
6/11 - Underground Plumbing
6/12 - Underground Plumbing Inspection
6/13 - Sewer, Water & Electrical Laterals
So the next week will we be very busy.
Here are the pictures from our visit to the job site to checkout the foundation not that the forms are off. We actually crawled down into the hole and walked around.

The neighbors dog from the hole.
